10.18.10 - Altum's Horticultural Center and Landscape will celebrate the holidays at its current Michigan Road location after learning last week of Kroger’s decision to cancel its plans for a new store at the property. The change in plans comes after many months of successful permitting and site plan approval and just weeks before Altum's intended move to their new location four miles north at Michigan/146th Street. Altum's is exploring other redevelopment options for their current location and is still focused on the eventual move to their intended new home.

“This was definitely unexpected, but we’re moving on,” says Dana Altum, “and we’re just as excited about the plans and potential.”

Given the timing of the setback, Altum has decided to continue serving customers in their current location through the holidays, assuring people once again that they’re here [in the community] to stay. “We’re staying put for the fall and Christmas holiday,” Altum confirmed. “And like the last 52 years, fresh and fragrant trees, greenery, poinsettias and plants will be making our place—and yours—look magical for the holidays.”

09.23.10 - Working on getting the greenhouse repaired so we can get ready to move in soon.  Plan on being open at our NEW location November 5, 2010.

08.02.10 - Moving day has moved!  We have decided to delay our move to mid-October.  This will give us more time to "spruce" up the new location and less confusing for our customers.  We will be here at 11335 N Michigan Rd through the fall planting season.

07.20.10 - Materials arrived to repair the greenhouse!  We are getting closer and closer to the move.  Have a few delays but we are still shooting for Labor Day weekend.

06.24.10 - We are working on site improvements for the outside sales area so we can maintain our versatile merchandising look as well as getting our annual/perennial receiving area set up logistically. The greenhouse is ready to be updated and made more retail friendly with roll up and see- through walls for expanded viewing and displaying. We are finalizing plans to soften the greenhouse to the east and create more covered shopping. The landscape/receiving area is next on our list to clean up and we will be relocating our second covered structure to house equipment as well as holding/planting and delivery and other operational items.

05.27.10 - Laying out nursery sales floor, getting a timeline for cleanup. We are still planning to be open at our new location Labor Day weekend, September 3-6, it will be here before we know it!

03.01.10 - Planning has begun! Inspired by the setting, we are putting pencil to paper and beginning to create a unique shopping experience. All while gettting ready for spring as trees, shrubs and pansies arrive at our current location. It's going to be a great and busy spring...
